The purpose of this chapter is to introduce you to the basic visual elements that make up Circle
Dock, the
· Background
· Centre Button
· Dock Item
and you can read about these by clicking on the appropriate links.
In addition to their unique properties, they all share these three important ones:
· Size - how large the object is, in screen pixels. Please note that all shapes are actually
defined as rectangles, or boxes, even though the shape may be circular, elliptical or irregular.
· Opacity - defines how much, or how little, of whatever lies beneath the object can be seen
through the object. Opacity is the opposite of transparency.
· Image - the picture used to represent the object on the screen. Note that all images used in
Circle Dock must be in Portable Graphics Format (ie PNG files) as these carry an alpha-channel that is used for transparency.
